Oregon Food Allergy Network (OFAN) is a not-for-profit volunteer-led support group representing families in the Portland, Salem, Springfield/Corvallis, and Bend area.  We are not a physicians or lawyers, but parents, caregivers, and food allergy sufferers who wish to share our experience, favorite products and coping strategies simply because it feels so good to help!

Our Mission Statement

We are a group of parents and caregivers who gather and work to better the lives of families living with food allergies through education, support, and community advocacy.

History

A cross-country move in 2005 left one mom overwhelmed and searching for food allergy resources in the Portland area.  At that time one group existed, PACES, led by Rhonda Rogers and facilitated by Claudia Sage.  Several others were in various stages of development.  It seemed there was an opportunity to stitch together these efforts into something really meaningful for families across Oregon.  After a call to the state allergists association in 2009, Dr. Daniel DeMerell of Allergy, Asthma, & Dermatology Associates agreed to be our medical adviser.  In 2009, OFAN held regular monthly evening meetings.

Our grand vision for Oregon Food Allergy Network is to serve as an umbrella organization connecting and empowering food allergic families and individuals across the state of Oregon.  A large portion of our great state's population is located along the I-5 corridor, but there is so much beauty beyond.  Leveraging support groups and the experiences of families all over Oregon is our ambition.
